In 1999, Tulsa's own Jim Stovall penned the novel, The Ultimate Gift. Without a major publisher, any retail presence or proactive marketing campaign, Jim's novel has sold more than 3 million copies and has been translated into more than 15 languages throughout the world. The message of The Ultimate Gift has spread from one reader to another and inspired millions to realize that their own life and experiences are their most precious gifts.
As a result of the overwhelming response to the message of The Ultimate Gift, this best-selling novel has been made into a major motion picture.
The prospect of The Ultimate Gift Experience Premiere began in December, 2004 when Matt Henderson became one of 30 initial nationwide investors in the film's production. Henderson decided immediately to invest in the film because of his belief in Jim Stovall and the message that he had been spreading for many years. He took the stance: "If Jim believes in it, I believe in it."
Henderson teamed up with Phil Lakin and John Wolfkill of Tulsa Community Foundation, along with Ultimate Gift Ambassador Kevin Shahan of TruNorth to further the message of The Ultimate Gift by hosting the World Premiere of The Ultimate Gift Experience.
The Ultimate Gift Experience premiered in true Hollywood form as Tulsa celebrated the giving spirit of a community and welcomed home a local hero and his message. Jim Stovall was greeted by over 1,500 friends and fans as he walked the red carpet with the stars of The Ultimate Gift. In attendance were the cast, crew, families, agents and publicists of the movie, including stars Drew Fuller, Bill Cobbs, Ali Hillis, Mircea Monroe, Lee Meriwether, and Brian Dennehy.
Director Michael Sajbel, Executive Producers Rick Eldridge and John Shepherd, the President of The Ultimate Gift Experience Tom Kennedy, and former Miss America Leanza Cornett were also in attendance. Also starring in the film were Abigail Breslin and James Garner, who were both unable to attend.
Henderson continues to be active in promoting the message of The Ultimate Gift. Henderson Financial Group sponsored the pilot program "Jason's Journey" at East Central High School in the spring of 2006 and has committed to continue this support for East Central and other schools. Today, several hundred schools and educational facilities around the country are implementing this life changing curriculum.
The movie will be released to theatres nationwide on March 9, 2007, with theatrical premieres in Los Angeles, CA and Charlotte, NC.
